Context
The ICT unit at a district education office supports the schools in its district. Its day-to-day work used to run on several separate AppSheet apps and Google Apps Script tools.
Approach
The founder proposed replacing them with one portal, PPDK.CH, and built it. It brings the unit’s work into one system: school visit reports, a dashboard, a map of the district’s schools, staff travel claims, QR links to report forms, and notifications to Telegram and Facebook. It runs on Cloudflare Workers with a D1 database.
For each visit report, the system drafts an impact summary (rumusan impak) from the fields the officer filled in. This runs on the Google Gemini API today, with a template fallback when the API is unavailable. Moving these summaries to Claude is planned.
Usage
PPDK.CH is the unit’s official portal and is used by 60 staff.
How it informs School Network Portal
Working with a district ICT unit showed how school connectivity is delivered in practice: the schools’ internet links are installed and maintained by third-party network providers, and those providers have few tools built for running many small school sites. School Network Portal is built for them.
